Winter Market IS Busy, Busy, Busy

Its here! The Outdoor Season has arrived! Its time to stroll down to the Pavilions on High Rock Avenue and get the full farmers’ market experience. This year we are going to be bigger (lots of new vendors–as well as old) and better (great music and many special events). Market days expand now to Wednesdays 3-6pm as well as our year round Saturdays 9a-1p.

In addition to our past offerings of cheeses, yogurt, eggs, milk our dairy section will have ICE CREAM! Our meat vendors will be offering more cuts of lamb, more whole chickens and their usual array of ham and beef in its various forms (steaks, burger, ham, bacon, meatballs etc). While your gardens may not be up and running our veggie farmers have been hard at work and will be able to offer you fresh salad greens, mesclun, tomoatoes, fiddleheads and then wonderful root vegetables that have been stored in optimum conditions for preserving flavor and nutrition (carrots, potatoes, parsnips, onions, garlic, radishes and more).

Bowman Orchards and Saratoga Apple will be back offering the sweetest and freshest local apples and fruit in Saratoga County. All our bakers are returning and we have added heritage flowers to our phenomenal set of floral vendors. Colebrook Wineries will be introducing at least one new wine and our jammers are gearing up for a “fruitful” season! Honey and Maple Syrup are back to satisfy the sweet tooth and all our crafters return (soaps, pottery, sewn items and new, jewelry). UnCommon Ground will be joining us on site this year and Funky Foods will have on site eatable breakfast and lunch food and drink. Mr. Edge will be happen to sharpen any dull edges on site and the market booth has a new look and will be full of new merchandise and continue to have the ever growing popular EBT and Credit Card -Token machine.

Every day live music is scheduled and be sure to come back to this site for calendar updates on special events–which will be more numerous and lots of fun. SEE YOU AT THE MARKET!

Welcome to the Saratoga Farmers’ Market. Our market celebrated its 30th season in 2007. We have grown from a small group of local farmers in a parking lot to a group of over 50 local vendors set up two days a week in summer under permanent pavilions on High Rock Ave in Saratoga Springs. We also have a smaller summer market in Clifton Park Thursdays afternoons. Recently we added an ever popular winter market housed on Saturdays in the Saratoga Springs Salvation Army Building on Woodlawn Ave.

We pride ourselves in being a LOCAL, PRODUCER ONLY MARKET. Unlike other markets, everything sold at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market must be produced locally (Schenectady, Reneselaer, Saratoga and Washington Counties). This means our fine products are very fresh and/or unique, and locally supportive of our community, economically, ecologically and socially.

Our products include vegetables, fruits, spreads, dressings and marinades, honey, baked goods, peanut butter, meat, cheese, wine, flowers, plants, jams and jellies, as well as crafters and even a knife sharpener. Many of our products are Certified Naturally Grown and Organic. All our vendors eat and use their products in their own homes and take great pride in their quality.

The market is a social place as well as a place of business. We love to see our clients use the market to supply their needs, but we also like to see the great social gathering it has become. Be it the beverage area of our own market booth, the live musicians, chef demonstrations or our community based special events, the Saratoga Farmers’ Market has become a regular social gathering spot for locals and a must visit stop for the tourists.
