Friends of the Saratoga Farmers’ Market
Friends of the Saratoga Farmers’ Market (FOM) started in January of 2011 to help the Saratoga Farmers’ Market continue to thrive through support for vendors and customers, and through education of the community and customers of the market.
Volunteers meet the second Wednesday of each month to organize projects and programs. Past projects include educational programs such as cooking demonstrations and container gardening workshops at the market, and assistance with market communication with the town.
Currently the group is focusing on two major initiatives; the Veggie Valet and Vendor Relief program.
Veggie Valet is offered every Saturday during the outdoor market. Volunteers in the valet tent hold packages for shoppers to free their hands as they continue to shop. When shoppers have finished purchasing their goods, volunteers bring packages to the shoppers’ car by way of free wagon service. FOM is looking for volunteers to staff the valet tent and provide wagon services.
The Vendor Relief program is a way for FOM to provide market vendors a moment of relief from their stands. Vendors use this time to do their own shopping, grab a cup of coffee and take a much needed rest to enjoy the market as a community member.
