Bok Choy, cultivated in China for centuries, is frequently available at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market. This member of the cabbage family is related to broccoli, Brussels sprouts, mustard greens, kale and other cruciferous vegetables.
Garlic scapes are the “flowering stalks” of hardneck garlic plants and are found only for short periods in early summer and mid-fall. Garlic Scape Pesto is delicious alone, used as a dip for vegetables, spread on crostini, used as a pizza topping, or stirred into piping hot pasta.
This tapenade makes a great appetizer or addition to a picnic.
